I have seen them all! In my childhood, rewinding and fastforwarding my Dirty Dancing VHS, I still know all the words and chuckle to myself when I think how my sisters, brother and I tried to reenact some of the dances in a purely naive and immature way. Flashdance, Fame, Footloose, my feet are tapping now,Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights was not missed and Lambada is another classic that I would love to watch again. Some I cannot remember the names nor the stars but, Channing Tatum, will be a man I will never forget after watching the fist Step Up. Re-watching movies that were amazing and exciting before, may or may not be that way now but every dance movie has done nothing but enthrall me, no matter how cheesy, obvious, no matter how many times, or how much a complete cinematic mess, for me only pleasure was achieved.
It has been a long day, lots of life decisions, traffic jams, signatures, it is winter and it is cold. After such a draining day I have come home and looked at the list of options on my pay per view. With complete excitement, I mean complete excitement, I actually jumped up and down, Step Up 3 was available. For some reason I missed the movie this summer when it came out in the theaters and knew that it was coming soon on my trusty digital box but there was nothing more perfect for my Friday night as the snow was falling down over my chilly city. The formula tried, true and tested; obvious from the first second, can not wait for the dreamy guy with the amazing hands to kiss the leading lady. Can not wait for the amazing and exciting dance routines amazingly choreographed to the catchy tunes. I am frustrated with the antagonistic situation in the film like always, I constantly wonder what it would be like if we took out the negative twists in films, if the bad part didn't happen, would we still watch? Quickly before I lose all hope the bad is overcome and the good guys win and everybody loves each other. There is a part of me that wonders will this continuous, repetitive, and sometimes sooooo obvious story every get old? The movie is over, a general wave of euphoria has swept over me and I even get up and dance awkwardly to others but practically professional to me to the music that blares from my TV while the closing credits roll. It is now late and I am wired! I look out the window and see the snow that has been piling slowly, wondering when the next Step Up will come out, it never gets old ;)
